With all the new accessories populating our showroom, I’ve been thinking a lot about our commitment to artisan craftsmanship.  Room & Board thoughtfully curates a special assortment of one-of-a-kind, hand-made and limited edition pieces.  Our offerings are truly gallery quality — and that’s totally normal for us.  Unlike many retailers, we don’t simply take inspiration from artists and then have things mass-produced overseas. We value the skill and vision of artists and craftspeople, as well as the integrity of the pieces they make.  And I think our customers do too.

Some of the amazing things we’re featuring this year include limited edition hand-printed artwork by textile artist, John Robshaw.  His pieces showcase traditional Indian printing techniques on hand-made paper, and each one is signed and numbered by the artist.  Then there’s the wooden bowls by Circle Factory, which is really just one man, George Peterson, in North Carolina.  The bowls are functional sculptures that Peterson carves, chisels and chainsaws to reveal the textural possibilities in their form.  Hennepin Made is a small glass blowing studio in Minnesota.  Each of their voluptuous bowls, vases and pendants is unique, carefully crafted and drop-dead gorgeous.

I know I sound like a catalogue, but I’m sincerely jazzed to support our artisans and represent them on the showroom.  What’s more, the unique character and quality craftsmanship that make our accessories so special is reflected in all of our products — which makes my job an easy pleasure.
